Engineering Switch Upgrade Program Continues 

Ongoing. Still have a couple of old Cisco switches to upgrade across Engineering.


DHCP project

 

A number of departments within Engineering are still hard coding IP numbers. A project has been put forward to migrate these groups to use DHCP. This will require physically or remotely visiting each affected machine. Timeline for completion, end of 2009.

 

Aruba switchover project

 

DWE, EC office area and CBET still need to be done.

DC Point Of Presence project
 
The 16 Engineering switches in DC are being moved to direct fibre connections to a new POP in the building located in the CIM part of DC with a link back to the Engineering router. The last remaining Extreme switches in DC are being replaced at the same time. The work is about 80% done. There are a few switches left to upgrade.The long term plan is to, as part of the DHCP project, renumber the machines and turn on some routing for the building.
