Nexus Wireless Printer Connector
UCIST recently discussed the difficulty laptop users experience when they try to print to campus printers.
A new tool is available which lets wireless users easily connect to campus Nexus printers queues.
Screen shots and the working program are online at http://www.eng/~erick/connector/ipp.htm
There are 303 networked printer queues on nexus, but only ones on "domain member servers" (216 of them) are listed. Queues on private workstations are not displayed.
Printers on other domains work too, as long as they have a corresponding nexus queue which can accept nexus credentials. The printers named "IST - CHIP" and "IST - MC 2060" are examples of this idea in practice.
I propose that we add the tool to the NAA post-login page.
Private Subnet Space
We have allocated private subnets for each department in Engineering, and added the private subnet DNS management to Maintain.
NAA Ideas
We should consider sharing data between NAAs, either using NFS or MySQL.
