UW Tuition Fee Increases

Effective Spring 2007:

Architecture, business and math, computational math, computer science, engineering, optometry and software engineering fees will go up by 8% for first years and 4% for upper years.

The ridiculously high co-op fee continues to rise from the current $510/term to $535/term.

The student services fee will also increase by 4%.

PLUS, we have that mandatory ~$50.58 bus pass tacked on too (effective Fall 2007). (Gee, thanks to all those who didn't want to pay and didn't bother to take ten seconds to go online and vote NO to the U-Pass.)

No, she's not, because her flight from Vancouver to Taipei are FREE.

except the service was supposed to be better than either AC or WJ...i'm no expert though.

Scott
I just looked at their price... its only $10-20 cheaper than Air Canada/WestJet for most of April

Your mom is better off flying Air Canada to Hong Kong and buy a separate flight from HK to Taipei haha

Timbo
That's a shame, my mom always ride Harmony to catch the flight from Vancouver to Taipei

Awww... I'll miss their radio ads...

Scott

oh man...watching korea face the canadians at the world curling championships tonight....i have to feel sorry for the koreans. i'm sure they're glad there's the mercy rule after 6 ends...12-0 o_O absolutely outplayed and outmatched. however, i hope they learn from this and become better. yikes.

more often than not, yes, the probability of such a poll in a large general election being accurate is pretty good.

however i've seen weirder things happen during elections and referenda. turn out is still important. 10% vs. 30% vs. 60% turn out can produce quite different results

Scott
1000 people polled in a national election produces result close enough to the actual result of the election. Don't doubt statistics :)

Dan T.
richard: no, but i think they realize they'll never be able to get everyone out...thus the low binding number.

hey, look at general elections (municipal, provincial or federal)...60% turn out, which is quite pathetic, but i digress...let's say the winner wins with 45% of the vote.
that means that winner got less than 30% of the total population's blessing...does democracy suddenly fall apart? no. does it represent all 100% of the people? well, it'll have to.

those other 66% of the people that didn't vote in your referendum now have no right to complain, they just missed their chance to speak.

Scott
Yes, referendums are valid from a statistical point of view, as long as the vote was unbiased, in which case, this is not.

Under FEDS policy with our given school population, only 10% turnout is required for a binding referendum.
