The Airplane takes off.
But of course there is a big problem with the wording, read the article to find out more! =) So who wants to forget about Disney World in 08, and go in 07 instead? This summer anyone? I'm kidding! Although my ex-co-workers are demanding for my visit.
Katie | |
So what's the answer to Tim's question?
Katie | |

Dan T. | |
I would have liked to, but alas...exams
tiff | |
o raymond, did you see the one where they race the toy car and a race car down a hill or something? that was one was neat too.
Alex T. | |
Not that I know of | |
Tim L. | |
No, Raymond, the date was yesterday, and I'm not being sarcastic either. CONCERT IS THIS WEEK FOLKS!
Raymond | |
i remember that episode so funny
wat day is that? 19th? | |
Tim "my brain is mush" L.
Anyone went to the Mac Concert Tuesday night by any chance?
Dan T. | |
Scott: good point, lemme rethink my position.
Raymond: I think one of the coolest ones was where they were trying to create a giant mirror to burn ships.
Raymond | |
I personally like the one about the ex[ploding gas tank where with normal bullets you cant blow up a gas tank but if you use tracer rounds and if far enough you can easily blow up a gas tank

Yes, the plane will take off. The plane's forward thrust is provided by the engines on the plane's wings. The wheels simply "roll" along the runway.
The plane will have force applied from the engine. The "moving" runway will apply minimal force on the plane besides the friction from the wheel rotating freely on its axle.

mythbusters, so many random and crazy experiements.
i think the best part is those really unsafe and ad hoc machines that they build. its so sketchy, yet they work. miracles, i say. and like where do they get all these myths to bust anyways? i personally have not heard of more than a couple of those stories myself. perhaps i just live in a hole nowadays. anyways, yes for wii, just for zelda and animal crossing.
Dan T. | |
Perhaps, but it's mighty fun entertainment. They go back and redo some of their experiments when their fans complain a lot on forums or through emails. And remember that often, they can't fit all footage shot into a half hour episode. They had an episode or two dedicated to Outtakes and stuff that didn't make it to screen.
Tim L. | |
Any other guesses?
I don't particularly like mythbusters because sometimes they just don't use sound scientific methods. See the yawning episode for example. I actually watched this episode, and I had a huge problem with it, and indeed, someone else did too.
Dan T. | |
The previous msg, of course is based on a perfect world in terms of conditions.
Dan T. | |
No, it can't take off because the plane isn't moving (assumption of no slip between the wheels and the belt). The plane's forward velocity is equalled by the reversing belt. As such, the plane can't generate any lift, and so won't be able to rise off the ground (or in the case, the belt). Draw a block diagram and you'll see the forward and reverse vectors cancel each other. It's much like trying to paddle upstream and the water is pushing you back as much as you're trying to paddle forward.
And what's wrong with Mythbusters? lol.
Tim L. | |
The Secret Santa list should be emailed for those of you participating, my room mate did the whole sorting thing so I've no idea who the rest of you have, so it is, indeed, a secret santa for me as well, no worries.
A quick and interesting question here: “Imagine a plane is sitting on a massive conveyor belt, as wide and as long as a runway. The conveyer belt is designed to exactly match the speed of the wheels, moving in the opposite direction. Can the plane take off? Discuss my nerdy friends! As well, THIS is something I want to see on Mythbuster, although I usually despise that show.
Raymond | |
it was a FPS so i was playing for a whiel trying to figure how to not kill myself lol
Tim | |
So I lied, the list didn't come out today... maybe tomorrow? I'll get to it, I swear!
