ps. alex: I've just realized
your "Post Message" button looks like "Past Message"... although i think its just a flaw with the font not being able to connect the 'o' with the 's'

raymond, i don't think there are american border guards in canadian airports. you don't technically cross customs and the border till you land in the country, so there is really no need for american guards to be present in canadian airports, unless international crisis should occur.
also, i do believe all international airports are considered international territory (ie.: No man's land). Hence, if you were to break a law in canada or any country, you can just live in an airport past the security checks, and provided you don't break international law while u were in the airport, no police can arrest you.

my question is if those are american border guards are they really americans or are they canadians employed as american border guards and if they are american than do they get to live in provided housing or do they travel back and forth?

I think it more of simulated a normal day at the airport than a really busy day, but that is obviously correlated to the amount of volunteers they were able to get.
Plus the customs pretty much gave you a nice chat. If it was for real, they'd have to scan your passport, take a look, ask you where you live, where you attend school (if you're a student), where you're going, place for lodging, business or pleasure, etc etc. As for security, they were giving us an easy time too, and think about all those people without carry-ons -- totally opposite to the real world. Timing was great though, that was the shortest time I had to wait at a gate for a given flight, even WITH the delay. =P

the trial at the airport was actually quite interesting, the process was definitely a lot faster than the last time i went on a plane but then again this is a simulation so may not be as accurate as they would like but good overall
