=)) What is good to watch. I don't know. I heard "Corpse Bride" is good. "History of Violence" Hmmmm I don't know. But hey you don't have to use it now, it expires a year from now I think. =)
Tim | |
2046 unfortunetly is off screen now. May I suggest "Corpse Bride", or heck, even Flight Plan. Although "Elizabethtown" with someone would probably be best ;).
Enjoy the watch, no scratches! P.S. The photo with the mushroom (DSC_2515.jpg)was by ME! =P

My 19th Birthday
Thank you to those of you who dropped by on Saturday. It was great. It was...simple...just the way I've always wanted it. Vanessa, thanks for the tix. Hmmm..what is there good to watch? Tim, the watch is beautiful. It's mesmerizing just watching the little hands tick. Jessica, thank you for the wallet. It's very nice. Too bad you couldn't come on Saturday. As usual, the photos are on ECE: http://www.ece.uwaterloo.ca/~atruong/alexs19bday/ Also, a big thanks to my crazy bunch of UW Computer Engineering friends. Thanks for no pranks, and thanks for the ice cream cake. =D Cutting that frozen thing with little plastic knives was quite an adventure indeed! Breaking my camera would have be an awesome prank, if you could kindly replace it with a Nikon D2X afterwards... And thanks to all of you for those "Happy Birthday"'s from near and far. =)

What did he talk about this time?
Charing | |
It was a different presentation by Ian Tien. I thought it was only okay.
Alex T. | |
Well, Ian Tien's interesting. I hope he gives out free MS stuff too. =D
It'll be kinda odd to say the least if I drop in on a Softie seminar...

Happy Birthday Alex | |
Richard | |
LOL. He's actually giving us (Softies) a presentation tomorrow during our seminar. Drop by if you'd like (RCH 105 @ 11:30). It'll probably be the same presentation though.
Alex T. | |
Ian Tien, the MS guy, talked about all the things he did while he was a student here at UW, what all his other fellow UW alumni did while they were here (crazy stuff, might I add). He also talked about how to leave a legacy, graduate studies, mentors, how to win your dream job.
His presentation slides are available at his site. http://www.iantien.com/webblog or directly at http://www.iantien.com/downloads/2005.09.27.IEEE.zip

What did MS man talk about? And the big G, Bill Gates, himself is coming to campus on October 13. :)
Raymond | |
Wow nice mug, steal one for me please lol
Alex T. | |
great choice =D | |
Tim | |
But chocolate chip cookies are eaten in a second! Mugs you can use forever!
I recently aquired a thermos mug from the university for coaching new safewalk walkers. I had two colours to choose from, and I chose this one: ![]() crazy, that was the first photo I've taken in a long time now (2 weeks?) =(

SPAC
Today was the IEEE Student Profesional Awareness Conference (SPAC) from 11:45AM until 5:15PM in DC 1302. http://ieee.uwaterloo.ca/web/events/spac05.php Speakers from RIM, Young Inventors, Microsoft, Epson and ScotiaBank were each there for 1 hours talks. I arrived early to a practically empty room and I ended up getting a RIM BlackBerry...stainless steel mug. Aww darn, not a BlackBerry?! Next time, next time...I keep telling myself ;) ![]() The RIM guy was informative, but quiet and slightly sleepy...and waaay too much RIM plugging. The Microsoft presentation by Ian Tien was AMAZING. "What I wish I knew" He's a Waterloo grad, so we could relate real easily. All Microsoft Talks are GREAT. A must attend for anyone. must. And oh boy, we're all so lost for C++. Oh boy...
Alex T. | |
I don't want another program just to talk...hahaha...i think i'll stick with Google. unles you can convince me otherwise...?
Scott | |
Skype still has a lower bandwidth usage compared to google.
Skype wr0x. Wonder what's gonna happen now that they got bought out by ebay.
Raymond | |
Supposedly Skype has a really good talk option but i havent tried it out yet
Alex T. | |
I liked google's low bandwith. MSN's was higher and i didn't like the cutting silence. I want to try skype to compare it to google. maybe when i get back to T.O. this weekend I'll try it out.
Raymond | |
But doesn't msn and skype both have internet talking type options as well?
Alex T. | |
It's kinda handy when i have no phone line... well...kinda handy to call home to Toronto from Waterloo =D
