Since when do I nap before 3:30? Since I get off at 12:30 everyday this term.

Alex T.
For all you Waterloo people, yes, Thursday (tomorrow) and Friday are Clubs Days in the SLC. Go and discover the clubs UW has to offer and join them! *hint hint, nudge nudge*

Alex
I'm liking this schedule very much...

So much time to...nap... and work in the afternoon =D

Raymond
Nice schedule just like mine lol

i wish that centennial had a online bookstore system like that, stupid cheap school

interesting, OB class told u to watch remember the titans...hmm

Tim
I've yet to sell my textbook, I got jipped by the bookstore thanks to my prof's unwanted nice intentions.

I've got the movie on my comp, maybe it'll just fit on a CD.

Richard
Just get it off BitTorrent. Remember the Titans is definitely a good movie. I mean, how can you screw up a football movie? They're a guaranteed success plan.

Week 1 - Day 1

And just like that, Day 1 of classes is over... 8:30AM until 12:30PM. Four hours of lectures (1 hr each) was all I had this morning, and that's just about all I'll have every day. 8:30 AM until 12:30PM (with the occasional labs here and there).

It's nice to see everyone's still their usual selves...more or less. Some of the profs are interesting... and we actually have a class that's not only 3% girls! =O But MSCI 211 sure is packed...better run to that class to get seats! ah darn electives...

So classes are over, and I'm supposed to be heading "home" to eat lunch, but I'm sitting here on campus sending stuff to Mr. Scott....50% done! jolly...at least it's faster than uploading at "home"...

Well, the place'll be my home away from home for the next few years, so I might as well call it home. It's nice, bright, and relatively quiet. The floors are actually soft and carpeted unlike Beck Hall in UW Place last year, so it's nice in that regard. When I wake up I can still see the sunrise from my window, just like last year from Beck Hall, so that's always welcoming too.

I've bought my books for the term already, and it's another half k out the window for four books. At least I got the hard cover version of my Algorithms book for the same price as the soft cover one =) But it still cost over $100. Most of the books this term are thin, so it's not as heavy, but the price is quite heavy...and I doubt we'll be reusing these too =/

Hmmm...let's see if my books got sold at the Used Bookstore yet...
YES! Success! A cheque for over $200 is in the queue for selling 3 books on the same day I submitted them for selling! Superness. Oh I love the simplicity of the system.

Hmmm...a little more uploading and I'm off to lunch and work on my work term report...hi ho, hi ho, off to work we go...but I don't remember watching that...

BTW, does anyone have the movie "Remember the Titans"? I need to watch it for MSCI 211 - Organizational Behaviour...

Enjoy your first week or second week of classes or work terms everyone...

Raymond
Either that or somebody was sniffing as lol

Alex T.

Monte Carlo Night

It's now...oh just check the timestamp...

I am FINALLY back from Monte Carlo Night at the SLC...we were screwed, but we still made it through okay. Only Richard, Charing, Scott and I were there to man the event.

For those who don't know what event I'm talking about:

The UW Photo Club (us) ran a photo studio at a semi-formal Frosh Week event called Monte Carlo Night. The Student Life Centre (SLC) and the Physical Activities Complex (PAC) here at UW are converted into a giant casino, dance floor, with dance lessons, gambling, mocktails, dancing, walking, laughing, shouting, and of course, free formal-like photos at our photo studio.

So we spent the night shooting a billion photos of eager frosh, frosh leaders and of ourselves...well...we were mostly flashing each other with flash units instead of taking pictures...

So here's the story of how we were screwed:

Plan A: The Monte Carlo Night organizers got us "lights"...from a professional lighting company...well, they were professional lights, but they were a professional lighting company for dances and what not...not photography...so we got these dinky little floodlights instead of the studio strobe lights we required...

Plan B: So I ordered a set of studio strobes from a rental company in Toronto and have Scott bring them up to Waterloo along with our backdrop and accessories...apparently my order for studio strobes disappeared and we didn't get lights.

Plan C: This I planned for and thought it would actually be required...it was required. Plan C: use my battery-powered flash units through out the night..we didn't have stands for the lights, so a few of the photos looked a bit odd from time to time, but we sorta managed. Thank you Nikon SB-800 Speedlight. *phew*. Believe it or not, I wish I had two more SB-800's tonight. I see why they sell it for half a grand each.

But Scott was late coming to Waterloo from Toronto with the most important thing: our beautiful brown backdrop. Monte Carlo started at 8pm. We started photos probably around 9pm...and we kept on going until 12:30am.

Everyone seemed to like it. "oooo...so professional...it's like our formal...ooo...aaaaa" Eh, we tried. Makeshift studio, makeshift lighting.

And I got to wave a hello to Lynn, Wendy, Alice and Tim N...but Wendy and Tim didn't come to our photo studio for a picture! *hmph* (probably busy gambling...=D)

Oh, so tired right now. Shower and sleep...shower and sleep... Thank you, Scott for the ride home. Have a safe drive back to T.O...right now...at 2AM in the morning...

Okay, photos to come later..check back soon. I'll be back in Toronto for the weekend before I head back here to Waterloo for classes.

Good night!

BTW, I re-uploaded the photos from our townhouse in Waterloo where I'm staying:
