Thanks, Ryan!

Hi Alex,

You and Dan did some great work at the Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference this year! You both have a great talent!

Alex T.
"birthday pranks" also seems to be popular... but that was sooooo first year =P

Dan H.
One of the recurring search terms I see at danhadi.com seems to be... "fail".

Take it however you want.

Alex T.
Recent search terms that bring people here are of course Windows 7 related posts. Lots of people all over the world seem to be looking for Brother printer drivers and solutions to the auto audio muting/unmuting issues.

When spring rolls around, Canada's Wonderland always appears (Good bye Paramount). I can tell when a season is just by looking at the search terms...

There is always someone interested in Leslie Yip's wedding. Always. Always.

PDEng and it's derivatives are also popular topics: computational decision matrix, position statement, and the like.

I'll dig up some more interesting ones later...

Richard
Do share...

The search terms that bring people here are fascinating...

I still feel like I know nothing.

Conceptually fun. Sounds like every other course we're taking. =]

I guess heres no run away from demoralizing except for finishing 4B ;)

So how do you guys feel... the works of demon is coming to an end!

Conceptually fun

Dan H.
I thought they were fun :)

There are three projects this term for ECE 428. The projects are ZERO fun. It's absolutely demoralizing!

Ronald
LOL@Top.

If you're evil enough you should do that endless when the OS due date is around the corner [for the 3A class] =)

P.S. there are projects for 428? are they any fun?

Scott
Theoretically, we can achieve the file transfer on the Canon cameras with CHDK, but that involves some power cycling which leads to unnecessary power consumption.

Scott
We need access to
- Shutter
- File transfer
- Av/Tv controls

Image quality must be 8 megapixels at 3x optical zoom minimum

Alex T.
@Scott What are your image quality, resolution, and usage requirements?

Scott
@Alex, Newer ones with support starts at 600 gram with the SX series :( which is triple the weight.

@Dan, We explored that option and found Lumenera, but we don't really have $2700 for one camera unit. I think we were basically laughed out of their sales pitch.

Dan H.
maybe you should use a image capture device that has more available sdks. perhaps even industrial-type units

Alex T.
Hmm... I don't know of any off the top of my head, but I'll let you know if i come across one. In the meantime, consider options of an older camera, a newer one with support, or another solution =P

Scott
Hey Alex, do you know of any firmware/drivers/SDK that will let us interface with a canon powershot sd-xxx camera?

CD-SDK doesn't work for new cameras and CHDK is limited... :(

I was mainly talking about the people that hate Vista when it came pre-installed on their new notebooks.

And pfft, if I didn't get free software from them, I'd still pirate it. At least for me though, without a developer's license, I'll still have access to MSDN-AA since my brother's a student here... and I suppose cheap licenses for legit software from certain people in Redmond. :)

Alex T.
For us Waterloo folks, we get Windows Vista for free from MSDN-AA, which helps the adoption here a bit. We can try to our hearts content because it's free and we got it really after the release. But what about other people without access to free software? Buying an OS to "try"? =O

I can see the main adoption for other people mainly because their new notebook or desktop came with Windows Vista pre-installed. If they built their own computer from custom parts, how many bought Windows Vista along with it instead of reusing their old OS? Save $100? Or, how many existing XP users would go out of their way to buy Vista to "try"?

Richard, I'll be sure to revive this for important discussions!

Richard
I guess what I can't understand is the average person (probably swayed by anti-MS technophiles) thinks that XP > Vista. Get them to try to explain one thing better (besides UAC) and they can't! Haters will be haters.

For the record, disregarding some minor posts, this place has been dormant for about a month. Shocking.

Scott
Let's say if you are adventurous to try Vista, you should be just as adventurous to try out Win 7. Besides, it couldn't get worst than Vista!
