It's been almost three weeks since my last update. That's almost... a fifth of my internship! Yikes! A massive posting will likely come tomorrow night for everything since April 3rd.

It's always good to see you drop by from time to time to say hello in your fashionable way =)

I'm coming back home to Toronto next Monday (not the coming Monday). I'm eggcited.

And its actually cheaper to get it from amazon than in Taiwan! (where it's made)

Scott
Alex!! Would you be able receive a US Amazon order for me and bring it to me in Waterloo? I am trying to order a cake knife...

Amazon.ca doesn't carry kitchen stuff :(

Alex T.
Richard, I've sent you an email.

Yeah, the TN-panels aren't as good as the ones they use in the 2408 models (Are they at 2408? I believe mine was 2407...). There's a reason why they can sell it for only $320 CAD.

Alex, how would you like to be my American shipping address if I decide to purchase a lens? I'd buy it over here, except the prices are the same in GBP as the USD ones, or I'd buy it in Toronto, except the prices are converted 2-to-1 from GBP to CAD. I guess expensive electronics still don't get parity.

I'm looking at a fast, slight wide-angle prime, so I was debating between the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ($320), Canon 28mm f/2.8 (only ~$160!), Canon 28mm f/1.8 ($385 blegh), Canon 35mm f/2.0 ($220), or something else. I suppose I really should be getting a normal zoom to fill that 22mm+ gap that I have right now, but the primes are so tempting. And I just looked up a cheapo 75-300mm USM and they're under $200.

Anyways, while I mull this over, let me know if that's cool with you.

I believe most, if not all TN panels are 6-bit dithered to simulate 8-bit. There's good response times on TN panels, though - which is good for gaming.

I believe I have MS Lenovo EPP, but I never looked into it.

Scott
Maybe I can ship it to your american address using my SAP EPP with lenovo? :D

Scott
The TN panels have bad colors? =/ I didn't do much research into it.
Maybe I do have to cough up the clams to pay for the more expensive 24" one or the 22" Lenovo one...

Speaking of which... Alex, did you regain IBM EPP access? Mine still doesn't work... :(

Scott
The monitor that I have at Waterloo right now is "height adjusted" using textbooks.... perhaps that's what the engineering textbooks are best used for.

Naw I'm just kidding haha... I use the coldfire lab manuals... dododod... lol

I only have one of each! I swear! lol

Alex T.
I have a height adjustable monitor at work, but it's still not tall enough. I use a mouse box to prop it up =P

Alex T.
The deal breaker for me is the TN panel - iffy viewing angles and less satisfying colour reproduction. Otherwise, it's definitely much easier on the wallet than the IPS or PVA panels of the UltraSharps and SyncMaster T-series.

Scott
lol

Dell had a 24" LCD on sale today for a fairly good price
BUT it only comes with the tilt stand, and not the tilt/heigh adjustable/swivel stand... which was a real deal breaker for me.

Dan T.
yes...starting to scare me a little bit too...

Alex T.
This is getting too weird...

Scott
I hope Xiao comes with a height adjustable stand if I'm going to be looking at it all day.

(Dell 24" monitor reference)
