| Gorgeous panorama, Alex. Are the sunset ones just several sequential snaps taken really quickly? Or am I giving too much credit to the sun in thinking that it can set quickly enough that slow actions would make a difference.
P.S. This is kind of weird posting 8 hours ahead of your timezone.

| i know... its the same case design from the ol' G4 Powerbook days (oops, thats the everyday for me)!! Still looks good... but it was probably time for a redesign 2 years ago!!! | |

| It looks like someone's going to be burning a hole in their pocket soon!
But I must say, it's the same old, same old tech... it's getting boring, Dan!

| ALEX AND ADRIAN! how many people are comingggggg. Tell your friends to make up their minds. XD
I only have 2 sleeping bags, so anymore than 2 people, bring ur own things to sleep on. I have a futon that can fit one or two people. And perhaps a couch...

| New MacBook Pros!
... finally! Alex, I guess that risk for our project, "Dependant on Dan getting a new computer" has now been averted!

| tulips so pretty :) | |

| Sometimes I cheat shooting into bright light. I'd meter for the sky, but make sure there's information in the darks. You'd be surprised how much information Lightroom can extract using the Fill Light option and it still looks somewhat natural as well. It beats making two exposures and manually merging them together. | |

| Awesomely beautiful. Toronto is definitely missing areas like this. | |

| seems like a beautiful day :)

| Day 51 - Mercer Island, Kerry park, Tandoori Hut
Saturday February 23, 2008 Today, the group of us headed out for a walk in the park in the beautiful warm sunshine. Well, two parks, to be more exact. The first stop was Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island. The sky was blue, the grass was green, the sun was shining, the Lake Washington water was shimmering, the temperature was in the mid-teens. Perfect. As we jumped out of ours cars, we first headed straight towards the water. So nice. So nice.
We then headed up a path a found a nice grassy area to rest. Next time, we're bringing a ball to throw around or something to do. Also, little did I know... it was an off-leash area...
Proceeding towards "the beach", we found this interesting formation which appeared to be a spring where the water would originate from the centre and flow out to the lake. Paulo should have some interesting photos of us around here.
"The beach" was a 10 metre long patch of sand. Hmm. It even had a lifeguard chair to complete it. Hmm. That's... nice... So we decided to play with our shadows instead. Can you spot "WATERLOO"?
We hopped back into our cards and headed to Kerry Park to see the sunset. It wasn't a great spot to see the sun really setting, but it was a great spot to see Seattle Downtown. The very short path of Kerry Park had a nice enough view that the place was extremely popular for photographers of all kinds. I need a tripod here...
To finish off the day after the sun set, we headed to Tandoori Hut, by Jeff's recommendation, for an Indian food dinner. The spicy food eaters ordered their spicy dishes and instructed the waiter to not hold back on the spice. Just make it like it's for Indians! For everyone else, we stuck with safer choices of Tandoori chicken and chef's mix and chicken tikka masala. Everyone thought the food was quite good indeed. It is highly recommended.
It was a great photo-ing day overall, but I do need more practice shooting in bright sunlight as well as acquire a c-pol. Please excuse the massively blown-out photos :)

| Day 50 - Windows Live SkyDrive is out of beta!
Friday February 22, 2008 As of yesterday, Windows Live SkyDrive is now live in more countries than before and it's finally out of beta! Now everyone has their own 5 GB (!) of storage space on the web to upload those huge files that you want to share with friends and family. Simply log in with your Windows Live ID. More info can be found at the SkyDrive website and the Windows Live SkyDrive Team Blog. Of course, feedback is always welcome!
Please excuse the mountains of Microsoft-related items, but I do work here, and there's so so much exciting going on in such a large large company, that it just keeps coming...

| Richard, Dan, I'll pass along your comments to Steve.
And this just in today: the video from Bill Gate's talk at UW (WMV)
| Dan T. | |
| re: photography workshop. I agree with Richard, that's a great analogy by Steve. awesome pictures too. | |
| Alex T. | |
Dan! Why didn't Mike L. bring you along to see Bill G.?! You didn't get the memo?? =P
Bill Gates meets with UW Chancellor Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO of Research In Motion.

In the mean time, here's Bill G's speech at Stanford with transcript: The Bill Gates Stanford Speech View in standalone player

| I know eh Dan, like wtf. :P
Gave tickets to keen math nerds :p hmp! Instead of watching Bill on the screen, in spite of him I was working on OS. TAKE THAT! lol xD anyhow....
| Dan H. | |
| "Close to 200 high schoolers, many of them participants in math competitions... joined 475 students from across the UW campus ... for [Bill Gates] talk in the Humanities Theatre."
So that's why I didn't get a ticket. They gave them away to HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.... THANKS, UW! >.
| Richard | |
| Oh and on that photography workshop, that's probably one of the best analogies that I've heard about the photography trifecta that I've heard in a while. Anyway you can sneak a video for those around the world? Tell him he's got a growing fanbase! :P | |

| But ooo, i notice Steve shoots with a Nikon XD | |
| Anonymous | |
| What's with the poses? o_O;
Anyhow, yes, that's the only comment after reading your weekly update... i had others, but they aren't more important. xD
| Richard | |
| So much pink and purple... my eyes!
You don't see MS in your future, Alex? No hopes of emigrating to Redmond permanently? Don't have any S.O. tying you down to one place yet...

| Day 49 - DigiGirlz
Thursday February 21, 2008 This was advertised on the frontpage for Microsoft.com this week and I noticed that there was DigiGirlz Day in Toronto yesterday.
My immediate team at Microsoft has a 40/60 split for females versus males. This DigiGirlz group photo also reminded me of a group photo I took in 2006 at U of T:
Also, speaking of high school, earlier in the term, I randomly met a Microsoft high school intern on a shuttle. A high school internship at Microsoft! Talk about early exposure! Unfortunately, they only hire high school students from the Puget Sound region.
