oh alex! you're priceless :D
Alex T. | |
If my time is worth so much that no value can describe it, then the show itself could only be described as priceless! =D
Scott | |
the show is only free if your time has no value? =D

I'm not not satisfied. If I was not so easily satisfied, I would actually be squirming in musical torture, bleeding from my eyes from the hokey moves, and throwing tomatoes - though throwing tomatoes would really require much effort into actually hating the performance. Hmm... that's food for thought. (more puns!)
Rotten Tomatoes... mmm... everyone's entitled to an opinion. Heck, just listen to Richard =D Excuse me while I plan my next self-degrading I-get-what-I-pay-for trip to enjoy another show next Saturday.

you got what you paid for? =]

*By Fairchild I really didn't mean the radio station either, but the media group in general.
*inductive fallacies, not arguments.
Timbo | |
Yes, I did notice it was Rogers TV doing the camera work (it was hard to miss), by Fairchild I meant the radio, since I usually don't get the damn TV station. Go North York!?
Older crowd does not equate to the allowances for bad dances, missed notes and the inability to remember lyrics, less exposure does not equate to bad singing (although that's not the case with Jason, he was pretty darn good), and smaller production does not equate to lower standards. What you've presented to me are inductive arguments. Being a Fairchild media group event I expected to meet a certain standard. Nothing more, nothing less. Alright, this is seriously the last post about Taste of Asia, if you're still not satisfied Truongs, I'd be happy to discuss this over MSN or the coming weekend.

Notice it was Rogers television cameras instead of Farichild TV and lots of old people in the audience... The other half of the Chinese community and the Fairchild crew were at 623 Canada's Wonderland where Fairchild was running their larger production for the younger crowd: New Talent Singing Awards Toronto Audition 多倫多新秀歌唱大賽 2007 with another HK star, Yumiko 鄭希怡, who has had more... how should I put it... exposure. Again.
(Excuse the pun... if you followed what happened at the show at Wonderland that night, and her previous acts, you'll know what I'm talking about...)

I expected FANTASTIC DISPLAY of martial arts (which was there, I'd say), ELABORATE AND INVIGORATING dance sequences (I'd rather watch Raymond dance), AMAZING singers and musicians (Look at me in the eye and tell me they were good, or at least enjoyable to the ears, seriously?), since it's a, you know, supposed professional production from Fairchild and Rogers Television -- and that's what I expected, a professional production.
If these "DJs" didn't have their "radio status", and decided to get together, fork out the cash and put on a show, would you, as a guy who happens to pass by, say they were "good" or "enjoyable"? I highly doubt it. You could go to Sir John A. Macdonald or any other high school and bump into singers that are better than what was on display, heck, even on the platform of a subway station! And so why should I expect any less, especially from a legitimate TV production? This will be my last comment on the matter. I did have a great time talking to you, Vickie and Ricky, and generally hanging out, of course! Believe me, if it weren't for the company, I'd be off like a chicken's head in China town! =P
Scott | |
they get their own band on 96.1 here =D
Dan T. | |
seriously, tim, what did you expect? lol
Timbo | |
And that was all the show was Al, hype, nothing more. Disturbed is a slight understatement. I'm holding back, so I will say nothing more than what I told Dan that night: Mickey Mouse called, and he wants his cheese back -- and that's only touching on a few aspect of what was a disgusting display of, well, everything. Thank goodness Dan, Vickie, and Ricky was there with me! (You didn't count, mr. Stage-right).
And does anyone find it wrong that this Jason dude has the largest photo on the poster when he showed up for 5 freaken minutes? What a marketing ploy. On the other hand, those photos looks good! =D

similar to what fairchild does in vancouver perhaps? not familiar with the vancouver affiliate...

88.9 is one of those stations where blocks of time are rented out i guess. and the chinese station (fairchild radio) seems to have gotten most of the time on FM 88.9 and AM1430.

Check out the link at the end of the crazy business man video. =D so sleezy.

Isn't 88.9 a public band? How did they manage to license that frequency?

Taste of Asia 2007
Saturday was Day 1 of Taste of Asia 2007, an annual festival on Kennedy Road, between Clayton Drive and Steeles Avenue, beside Pacific Mall and Market Village. This year on Saturday Night, there were performances by Fairchild Radio (Toronto) DJ's and a new HK singer: Jason Chan 陳柏宇. Jason is a local who released his first album, First Experience, last month. ![]() I was mainly there for the photo-ing practise (as previously Richard had mentioned that there have not been any new photos up since... forever), but I was also hoping for an entertaining show. I've heard about the event everyday on FM 88.9 during my drive to work, so I was looking forward to checking out the hype. Tim was disturbed, but I enjoyed it - both the photo-ing op and the performances. Just listening to the DJ chatter was enough entertainment. First round of photo selections from the night, through my mainly el cheap-o 70-300 mm perspective, have been uploaded. My brother photographed the entire event with the 50 mm prime from the other side of the stage. I've got to get myself a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR and a monopod =P Photos from Taste of Asia 2007 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
