Engineering Switch Upgrade Program Continues
Ongoing. Still have 20 old Cisco switches to upgrade across Engineering.
EIT Network drops
About 25 drops left to do on 4th floor. Over the years, unknown to us, users have been installing hubs in EIT.
This is being rectified with a request by Electrical Engineering
to install 102 drops throughout EIT, with about 12 new ones in DC. MAC
address lockdown will be enforced to reduce this problem in the
future.
VLAN 16 Cleanup
Ongoing. Currently moving switches off of the shared VLAN 16 onto a
private vlan. VLAN 16 was shared between Math and Engineering. Have 12 IPs still to move over.
DHCP Project
A number of departments within Engineering are still hard coding IP
numbers. A project has been put forward to migrate these groups to use
DHCP. This will require physically or remotely visiting each affected
machine. Timeline for completeion, end of 2009.
