Discussion:

Martin: examined cables.  Re-evaluating.  Currently Belden, going to Mohawk.  IST would like a rough idea of our cable needs for the next year.  Electrical characteristics of the cables examined were all the same.  Handling was the deciding issue.  Mohawk offers foot markers.  Belden pairs are bonded.

Mike: shared some concerns with getting cable supplies through IST.  Pricing is fine, but it took 3 weeks to get some panduit products, for example.

Martin: delay on closets.  Nothing gone to tender yet.  Contact EC if you lay cables so Martin can catalog it.  If IST lays the cables, they deal with it.

Dennis: asked about prices regarding the proposal to use 3524s instead of 2924s.  The 2924 product is about $2300, while the 3524 is about $3400.

Erick: Cisco 2916 switch problem described, where the switch performs poorly even under light load, when traffic goes between from a module port to a main port.  All of the IST managed 2916 switches are being replaced with the 3524 product.

Erick: Win2K AD.  Training coming end of June.

Dennis: desires visio.  Concurrent license cost is an issue.  Peter Douglas wished teaching classrooms were included in CFI.
