Discussion
Cabling Blueprint Changes
-
nothing changed because CCIC meeting was postponed
CFI Summary of Expenses
-
Chemical and mechanical racks and conduit are ready in some areas, time
to purchase switches for them
-
pricing has changed slightly, contact purchasing for new price list from
GE
-
Mike proposed wireless as a cheaper solution for some heavy equipment labs
instead of Cat5. Hector will ask Jay if CFI money can be used for
this.
-
Dennis raised questions about open ceilings using finger plastic shielding.
Martin will ask Jim. Dennis goal was to avoid electrician expense
while providing perimeter conduit
-
Mechanical has priced out lots of mechanical lab work
-
Dennis wonderred how we can pay for all needed conduit for open ceilings.
Mechanical had budgetted for it, but Dennis showed there was a lack of
clarity in definitions at CFI project startup time so he had not budgetted
for the subsequent cabling standards. Maybe there is enough headroom
due to others not needing their full budgets.
Nexus
-
Hon says we are using DHCP and RIS to install
-
need to predefine workstation in AD so they will be in correct OU for existing
installed machines added to Nexus
-
ready for some Nexus users, Ray and Hon are adding more and more software
-
discussion of Windows XP, Office XP
-
chemical is ready to try this out
