Windows 2000 Must Go:

Microsoft no longer supports Windows 2000, campus systems should move to a supported products.  Unsupported systems tend to be vulnerable to a growing number of virii and fixing them will become much harder without the vendors' help.  If the machine presents a risk, it will be handled according to http://ist.uwaterloo.ca/directives/secUW.html the campus network security directives.

Email servers must use protection: 

In the minutes here: UCIST asks that all UW computing-system administrators configure their systems to use the IST-provided MailServices cluster, or to use other e-mail protection mechanisms that are at least as good. UCIST has made this recommendation, have the Associate Deans acted on this?

Wireless Base Station Rules: 

Rules for all wireless base stations on campus have been decided by UCIST.  Private base stations are inconsistent with the plans.

Network Cabling Requirements:

There are requirements people must meet for laying network or other low voltage cabling, particularly if the cabling passes from one room to another, or one floor to another.
