Computer Lab:

ANSYS CFX Student User Manual

Overview of ANSYS-CFX

We will have a computer lab on Monday, Oct. 5, 2:30-4:30pm at Wedge (E2-1302B)

In the lab, you will be working on the Duct Bend Example (Sec. 2.2, pp. 13-29) in the student user manual.

Two mesh generation methods are covered in the manual: ANSYS Mesh Generation (pp. 17-19) and CFX Mesh Generation (pp. 27-29). You should work on the CFX Mesh Generation in the lab.

Note that the path to open ANSYS Workbench in the ANSYS CFX Student User Manual (see Sec. 2.2, page 13) is no longer valid.

To open ANSYS Workbench properly:

1. Start/Programs/ANSYS 11.0/CFX/ANSYS CFX 11.0 --> to open ANSYS CFX-11.0 Launcher window
2. In this Launcher window, select ANSYS/Workbench 11.0 --> to open ANSYS Workbench window
3. You should see "Empty Project", "Geometry", "Advanced CFD" and "Meshing" in the ANSYS Workbench window. If any of these 4 panels is missing, you won't be able to work on ANSYS properly.
