Hi

Thursday, Jan 24th early morning, I caught a bus to Adelaide. Of all the big cities I found Adelaide to have the most older 1800's structures still standing. Quite nice.
Anyways I mainly wanted to visit an Island called Kangaroo Island before I went to Melbourne. As usual with all my trips between cities I arrived fairly late and the shops were closed yet again.

I found the first hotel on my list not far from the bus station to check out, an older 1800 style hotel/pub. I liked the older hotels, they had more character and were cheaper. Outside the hotel I was met by a young guy, drunk and complaining that the hotel had ripped him off of his money. Sure, sure. Reminded me of my Cousin "Willie" and his stories. Gave this one a miss and went on to find the Brecknock. On the way I found another Hotel/pub I was just about to check it out when this old guy from the patio came over and "noticed I was a tourist". Go figure, the guy walking around with a ruksack is a tourist. Anyways he proceeded to tell me about when happy hour was at various hotels etc, "just trying to help me out" as he would say. He then voluteered to "look after my stuff" while I went inside to check out rooms. Why do I attract these weirdos.
So I gave this place a miss, the Brecknock was just a block away. I had supper downtown and met another Canadian from Edmonton and an English guy. The guy from England turned out to be a Mechanical Engineer.

Next morning I went to Kangaroo Island with a tour group. They picked me up at 6am and I made it back to the Hotel at 9pm. Took lotsa pics and bought a nice book. A 15 hour day, Ack. All I wanted to do was get back and go to sleep. But Ohhhhhh no. The pub downstairs was an Irish pub and Friday night was band night. The band setup area was RIGHT UNDER MY BED. So I stayed up and had a few beers until the band finished. Met a few locals.

Breakfast was included with the room and so I got up early to have some breakfast before heading to Melbourne. An older lady joined me for breakfast and we talked a bit she was 50 (she looked 40) and was starting a new job on a marine Biology type ship out of Brisbane or Cairns (don't recall). I thought that was pretty ballsy to be switching jobs at such a late age. Caught the ealy morning bus to Melbourne.

Anyways I'm in New Delhi right now with Phil. This internet cafe charges $35 rupees an hour, just over $1 Canadian an hour. Just hanging out today. Going to check out some markets. Phil was here alone for a couple of days and I think he's a little scared of walking around alone after the rickshaw incident where he thought they were going to beat the crap out of him and rob him. But, seeing the porters and taxi cab drivers stuggling to lift my knapsacks I think I can take 3-4 of them on before I'm outgunned. More later.

Martin
