Lost Cord, Cognitive Processing
This was a 5 mark question on the 2000 Midterm and reportedly the hardest question on the exam.
Top down processing is based on expectation and experience with the situation. Feature analysis breaks features apart and builds up objects based on matching with templates. Each explanation worth 1 mark.
Top down processing was more influential (worth 1 mark). Because the features were the same you cannot argue that she used feature analysis to identify the cords. The cords undoubtedly did have some different features. There is no evidence that Karen had a template for the iv pump lead or the EKG lead. (worth 1 mark). Karen's expectation that the cords would not fit made her identify the iv pump cord as the EKG lead. (1 mark)
