The University of Waterloo Chinese Engineering Stude ts' Association (UWCESA) is a directorship of the Egineering Society. Our goal is to bridge the gap betwe en EngSoc and the Chinese students in the Faculty of Engineering.

This goal embodies several important objectives:

The promotion of Chinese stud en ts' involvement in engineering oriented events and activities within the University and community.

Dismantling of the language barrier between Chinese students and EngSoc. Thereby eliminating any sense of segregation between the two parties and uniting to create a more harmonious existence.

Promoting the Chinese culture within the Faculty of Engineering will further en hance the diversification of the engineering studet body.

Provide important intimate social and academic support for all students in the faculty; with an emphasis on providing resources of aid for first year students who are having a difficult time adjusting to the new university environment.

To meet these objectives, UWCESA will be organizing a number of activities including tutoring, mentoring, fundraising, volunteering, social gatherings and e-newsletters. In addition, a web-based community bulletin will be used to keep students updated on the events happening in the Faculty of Engineering and to facilitate student body interaction.

終於，滑鐵盧大學華人工程學生會 (UWCESA) 於二零零三年十月九日正式成立。 UWCESA 的成立，經過了很多波折。最初， FEDS 提出我們的職責和活動與 CSA 有重疊的說法，不贊成我們設立新的學會。亦有人認為我們立心要將工程系的同學分化。或許他們都不太清楚 UWCESA 的功能。我們明白要同學們接受一個新的概念絕對不是容易的事。但是，我們並沒有因此而放棄，反而更加努力，希望工程系的同學們能夠了解我們的目的。幸好 En gSoc 接受了 UWCESA ，更將 UWCESA 列為它的董事之一。

UWCESA 致力為不同文化背景的工程系學生創造一個融洽和諧的學習環境及多姿多采的校園生活。我們鼓勵華人工程系學生多參與 En gSoc 每年為工程系所推出的課外活動和聚會，以及其他社會活動。 UWCESA 亦幫助工程系一年級學生適應大學的課程和環境：讓他們掌握奏效的學習方法之餘，亦享受校園生活的樂趣。 UWCESA 的服務也有針對英語為第二語言的工程系同學，協助他們打破語言的障礙。當然，我們亦藉著這個機會向同學們宣揚中國文化。因此， UWCESA 歡迎任何國藉的工程系學生加入。

UWCESA 的行政部門由不同學科 ､ 班級的學生組成。我們的網業將提供 UWCESA 和 En gSoc 的活動時間表及詳情，參考試題及工作報告，舊書買賣聯絡，校外租屋列表，中國文化資料，討論板等等。 UWCESA 會繼續籌辦有趣的課外活動，歡迎任何工程系學生參與。我們亦會陸續招攬高年級學生為一年級學生提供意見和幫忙。 UWCESA 將安排工程系學生參加多倫多和滑鐵盧社區義工及慈善服務。

由於滑鐵盧大學華人工程學生會剛剛成立。很多事情和計劃都需要慢慢組職和安排。就是為了這個原因，我代表 UWCESA 衷心感激您們的支持，並誠懇地徵求您們的意見和批評。我們必定竭盡所能令 UWCESA 變得更好。為了滑鐵盧大學工程系的一個歷史作見証，我們踏出了第一步，那您呢？
