Shovit

Background

Living in Canada and experiencing its winters firsthand, we here at Shovit have decided to take the manual out of the manual labour that is shovelling. Shovit, our autonomous snow removal solution will clear up your driveways and parking lots, so you can spend your time actually enjoying winter.

Actuators

High load actuators capable of handling 150lb each, allowing for the removal of the heaviest of snows. Winter may be coming, but we’re ready for it.

Propulsion

The Shovit prototype is built on a Clearpath Husky, which propels itself using a two wheeled robot model, where the two sides of the robot can move forwards and backward independently. This gives the Shovit much more maneuverability, with the ability to turn in position, and go around tight corners as necessary.

Boundary Detection

Utilizing RFID technology, an invisible wall is deployed around the driveway confining the Shovit within a predefined area. This allows for autonomous behaviour and a completely hands free experience.

Localization

A GPS receiver module alongside an Inertial Measurement Unit will assist with the positioning of Shovit when it is out in the field.

Algorithms

With the data from multiple sensor systems, the Shovit can correct its trajectory in case of any unforeseen emergency allowing it to resume plowing snow no matter the circumstances.

Remote Control

Control the Shovit robot with a controller. Drive the Shovit robot and control the plow with the push of a button.
