CEAB WEB SITE HELP PAGE

Purpose

This set of web pages was developed to aid students in selecting their courses. The form presents a list of standard courses for Engineering programs and checks to see if a number of checked courses meet the requirements for CEAB, Program Core, Options and Themes.

CEAB Requirements

The form will check to see if the checked courses will meet the CEAB requirements. The requirements must be met for all components which will be listed at the top of a table of courses. The values for each course is also listed with a total for all of the courses checked. Any area does not meet the requirements that TOTAL number is highlighted in red.

Core Courses

The core courses for a program are always presented in a bold font. If a student is required to take some of a list of many core courses then the entire list is presented in bold. For example Civil Engineering students must take at least one of either CIVE313 or CIVE413. Both courses are listed as core courses.

The "Check Core" button will check all the core courses. Both CIVE313 and CIVE413 would be checked from the example above.

Technical Electives are not listed as core courses even though a certain number of these preapproved courses must be taken.

Program Options

The courses which may be taken towards a particular option may be highlighted in Green by clicking the Color All Green button for the appropriate option. Only one Option's courses at a time will be highlighted. All of the courses will be highlighted, and a student need not take all of the courses highlighted. The student should check their course calendar for the specifics.

Program Themes

The courses which may be taken towards a particular Theme may be shaded by clicking the Shade All button for the appropriate Theme. Only one Theme's courses at a time will be shaded. All of the courses will be shaded, and a student need not take all of the courses shaded. The student should check their course calendar for the specifics.

Complementary Studies Electives

The complemenatry studies electives are listed as CSE1 through CSE4. They are counted as core courses. The CSE courses are also assumed to be three (3) hours of lecture. A student should ensure that their complementary studies meet this criteria when using the table or check using some other method that they meet the CEAB requirements.
