There are roughly 253 million people globally who have some form of visual impairment. Sighted individuals take for granted the richness of visual information available to them in order to navigate the world. We have developed wearable glasses that can extract, decode, and communicate information from an image to a visually impaired user through audio transcription. Our system leverages computer vision to perform optical character recognition, money classification, and colour detection.

In welding, QA/QC plays a vital role in ensuring sound and reliable welds are produced and in minimizing rework. In certain disciplines, it is a regulatory requirement to comply with ASME standards, which makes the use of specific QA/QC processes mandatory. These disciplines include pressure vessels, structural steel work and lifting equipment. Not carrying out adequate QA/QC during the fabrication can result in welds of varying quality. When weld defects surface, rectification will be required and may delay the delivery of the product to the customer. This may also result in a loss of reputation for the fabricator. Therefore, Weld View is striving to provide an accurate, quantitative means to determine quality of weld. Our product will measure the voltage, current, angle and velocity of the weld to compute the heat input. All relevant metrics will be recorded and presented to stakeholders for further evaluation.

Hockey suffers from a declining youth player base as well as exorbitant costs, especially those required for practicing. To help combat these factors, our interdisciplinary team designed an Automated Hockey Goalie which utilizes Machine Learning, electrical, and mechanical components to move a blocker across the front of the net. This allows prospective players to practice by themselves anywhere with just our system.

Mindgo is designed to help consumers monitor their non-essential purchases and promote mindfulness while shopping. By tracking the user’s mood and personal product reviews, the application generates insights on the user’s spending habits.
