Lab Bench Power Supply Sept 2017 - October 2017
The aim of this project was to create a lab bench power supply from an old computer power supply. This power supply supplies standard 3.3V, 5V and 12V. Materials used:
ATX power supply
4 binding posts
1 switch
1 computer fan
2 LED's
2 220 Ohm resistors
Shrinking tube
Solder and soldering iron
Some lessons learnt from this project:
Shrinking tube first. Always.
Plan solder connections before hand.
It's better to have long wires then wires that aren't long enough.
Future plans for this project: adding a carbon filter to the fan atop the case (covered in yellow tape) and using it as a mini fume extractor, creating a attachable module for variable voltage with current limiting features.
