Me

Balance

I feel as if it is very important to maintain a sense of balance in life. This doesn’t apply to just “don’t have too much fun” but also to not work so hard that you forget to make the most of life. Up until the 7th grade, I used to take school as nothing more than a burden. Things started to change when I decided to take a further interest in things that I thought were neat. After that, school, studying, and social life all fit into place. It no longer felt like a burden, but rather, refreshment. Since then, I’ve been going to school to explore something cool or learn something new… it’s been great for my mind (and for my grades too)!
Remember, life isn’t very long. If you worry about nothing, you won’t leave an impact. If you worry about everything, you won’t enjoy it. You just need to find the perfect balance to make it work for you!

Family, Friends and the Rest

I’ve realized after obtaining a lot of things I’ve always wanted that life isn’t about material wealth. Always take a few minutes out of your day to stay in touch with someone, and to tell someone how much you appreciate them. A few words can go a long way.
Now, instead of chasing after things and items, I’d rather see people. People I care about and love :)

My Pastimes

Socializing. As an engineering student, I obviously don’t get much of it at school. But whatever chance I get, I do like to kick back with friends and take a break every now and then. It’s important to maintain those connections; not from an “it’s important to network” kind of view, but more so “its good to have and give company” point of view. With my future at hand and desire to learn, I have recently started employing my free time with activities that have always fascinated me.
Getting Involved. I’ve always enjoyed feeling part of a larger function, whether that implies leading a team or being part of one. I strongly believe there is a lot of learning to be done outside the classroom. As a result, I’ve always tried to take part in many clubs, activities and
conferences (follow the link to check them out).
Learning. I find an impenetrable need to satisfy my thirst for knowledge. Take this website for example, I started doing HTML to just occupy myself with a challenge while on a co-op term (but realized it would possibly open up some doors for the next co-op term). Turns out, I learned a lot be better by doing rather than learning off websites. When one of my buddies at work told me that the university gave us some space to employ our own web design ideas and do a little “personal branding,” I decided to venture this concept. With the help of a basic template, I not only learned a lot about HTML and some things about CSS, but also developed this site within 2 weeks!
Investing. I’ve always wanted to be more involved in the business world. My Dad’s always told me it’s good to keep track of your money (which I recently started realized leaves my pocket a lot faster than I think). I started picking up tips on finance, and honestly, got really bored of it. It was way too dull. Thus, I started reading a few books, developing an interest in the whole idea of risk taking. The idea of risk taking and constant change excites me. In general, it’s just a great way to keep up with what’s going on in the world. Plus, you can always make a few good bucks out of it!
Staing Active. Stay fit is practically a must for me. It’s become part of my life. Even if I can’t make time for it some weeks because of interviews, deadlines or exams, I definitely try and catch up on it in the following weeks. It just feels good to stay fit, you know?
