The leg straight up. The safety limit at the knee won't allow bending the knee back.

Angle view of the prototype. The frame is machined aluminium. Upper leg and lower leg frame are welded, and the remaining pieces are connected with heavy-duty screws and pivots at the knee and the ankle.
