Industrial and Academic Work Experience
I was hired by NexJ as a Product Manager to take on unique role that required software development and UI/UX design skills in addition to the ability to perform business requirements analysis. I got exposure to direct customer requirements while working on a system employing modern enterprise software design patterns. Meeting with executives and taking part in business decisions gave me a good understanding of how things work in companies, and gave me extremely valuable lessons to use in future projects.
- Experience with user interface design and usability
- Product demonstration and new functional prototyping
- Defining requirements based on stakeholder input
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- HTML, JavaScript, XML development
Matin has demonstrated that he is fully capable of performing the tasks assigned. Throughout his work term he has executed a variety of tasks including several critical tactical designs under tight timelines. He has not only performed well, he has also been a pleasure to work with.

More than experiencing what it is to work at MIT and Harvard, I was interested in working on a technology that brings aspects of various fields into one product to save millions of lives. At BAMM Labs I worked on the HIV Project, specializing on the immobilization of the HIV virus in a small chip and detection using quantum dots. It was a great experience working independetly while having access to world-cass equipment. On top of everything, publishing my work in a 6.5 impact factor journal as the first co-author was very satisfying.
- Organization skills while working under minimal supervision
- Experience with Matlab, Java, ImageJ, and COMSOL
- Hands-on immersion in an academic research environment
- Technical writing, drawing, and presenting skills
Outstanding
I have had a chance to work with Matin in our laboratory at Harvard Medical School. Matin was always fun to work with. He is a very hardworking student and he was good at performing research independently. He worked hard and completed led his project successfully, which has resulted in several journal publications and conference abstracts. He is also good at technical writing and presentation. I am sure he would be an excellent candidate for PhD in a leading institution. I wish Mating luck and success in his future career. I hope to have a chance to work with him in the future.

It was an honour to work at the University of Toronto as a researcher only after 8 months of undergraduate study. Given my lack of experience and knowledge in the field prior to joining the research group, it was a challege learning concepts of the research, and how research is done in general. By the end of the four months I was able to become an author on a conference paper, which was very satisfying for me.
- Organization skills while working under minimal supervision
- Experience with Matlab, LabVIEW, ImageJ, and Origin
- Hands-on immersion in an academic research environment
- Technical writing, drawing, and presenting skills
- Work experience in a femtosecond laser lab, and a class 10000 cleanroom
Outstanding
During his summer term with our research group, Matin worked with another Ph.D student and myself in our laser fabrication and characterization labs. Motivated by his desire to learn, Matin used his laboratory skills to quickly master our characterization techniques and also made an improvement in the control system of our setup that allowed us to explore the fabrication of new devices. In the end, Matin was able to make a contribution to our project that led to him co-author a paper with us, which is an impressive achievement for a student having only completed one year of his undergraduate degree.
