The following are topics from a previous year’s class.  You can repeat the topic, provided the design work is new.  The topics are grouped into two categories.  The first category consists of topics that were fairly straightforward to do.  The second consists topics that were fairly challenging.
This grouping does not correlate with individual marks, there were strong and weak projects in both categories.  On the challenging projects, some potential challenges are listed.

*** Fairly straightforward ***
- Phonocardiography for cardiac auscultation
- Race car performance monitor
- EEG diagnosis
- Home environment control
- Monitoring the Acton water supply
- Greenhouse monitoring and planning tool
- Roller coaster control interface

*** More challenging ***
- Wing monitor for Alzheimer's patients (processes/abstract functions)
- Home security system (processes/abstract functions)
- Organizational interface for the SLB Turnkey desk (processes/abstract functions/graphics)
- Next generation media monitor (processes/abstract functions/graphics)

- Database management system (work domain model/generating graphic concepts)
- Personal nutritional and energy monitoring system (small physiologic variable set/large database requirements)
- Volleyball scoring system (processes and abstract functions of a game)
- Restaurant monitoring system (processes and abstract functions)

Because these projects had challenges does not mean the challenges were not well handled in many circumstances.  The challenges are identified so you can understand them better as you try to choose your own topics.
