4B Mechatronics Engineering students at the University of Waterloo.
We are a group of four Mechantronics Engineering students in our final term at the University of Waterloo. We are currently in the process of making an autonomous bed-tilting mechanism to provide assistance to individuals who find it difficult to re-orient themselves in bed. This webpage contains a summary of our proposed design and status updates on our progress. Feel free to contact us with your comments or feedback.

We would like to thank the ALS Society of BC for bringing the issue of patients having difficulty reorienting themselves in bed to our attention.

Susan Brown, Research Associate at the Schlegel-UW Research Institute of Aging, provided us with valuable input regarding the human factors involved in creating an assistive device. Her advice was considered while designing the product.

We also appreciate the help of Professor J.P. Huissoon who guided us through the design process during our previous term at the University of Waterloo.
