Feetbelt
26
The lower extremities are the most frequently injured body region in frontal car collisions. They result from the forceful impact of the feet into the toe-pan and foot controls during a collision. These injuries can be very debilitating and yet little innovation has been made to address them. The Feetbelt is a passive safety system, akin to today’s airbags, that aims to eliminate this injury mechanism by displacing the legs away from the front of the footwell at the instance of a crash.

PINGA: Polar Ice Natural Green Aeroponics
29
Like Pinga, Inuit goddess of life this system makes life in the arctic climate easier through the use of aeroponics to combat food insecurity in these communities. This system is able to house and produce 40 plants at a time, with the ability to perform in the temperature range of -50 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees. This is accomplished through the use of highly insulating walling surrounding a growing system that is both nutrient and water efficient to maximize plant growth while minimizing water usage.

Cryo
30
Over 50% of adults have experienced chronic or episodic headaches making it the second most common complaint of pain. Current market solutions such as icepacks and pain relief medication leave significant room for improvement in both symptom relief and user comfort. Our goal is to eliminate the undesirable side effects of medication, and the unpleasant experience of ice packs by introducing a cryotherapy-based alternative. Cryo has created a rechargeable device that can be worn to alleviate head pain by cooling key points in the forehead.
