Feetbelt

26

The lower extremities are the most frequently injured body region in frontal car collisions. They result from the forceful impact of the feet into the toe-pan and foot controls during a collision. These injuries can be very debilitating and yet little innovation has been made to address them. The Feetbelt is a passive safety system, akin to today’s airbags, that aims to eliminate this injury mechanism by displacing the legs away from the front of the footwell at the instance of a crash.

hapee

27

Did you know that tracking your health everyday can add years to your life? hapee aims to do this by turning your washroom into a smart washroom. Valuable biodata in your urine is being flushed away everyday. This biodata includes the presence of STIs, UTIs, kidney stones, diabetes, dehydration or cancer. hapee is a toilet attachment that analyzes urine before it’s flushed away to allow you to learn more about your health, and give you the tools you need for early disease detection and prevention.

Project Cathedra

28

People spend more than 10 hours a day sitting. Studies show that prolonged sitting contributes to a lot of health problems. Poorly designed chairs can increase the risk of developing low back disorders and amplify existing low back pain. With extensive research and consultation with actual back pain patients, Project Cathedra is an innovative and effective solution to provide a healthier way of sitting. Commercial chairs are one size fits all, but we believe every-body is unique. Project Cathedra got your back.

PINGA: Polar Ice Natural Green Aeroponics

29

Like Pinga, Inuit goddess of life this system makes life in the arctic climate easier through the use of aeroponics to combat food insecurity in these communities. This system is able to house and produce 40 plants at a time, with the ability to perform in the temperature range of -50 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees. This is accomplished through the use of highly insulating walling surrounding a growing system that is both nutrient and water efficient to maximize plant growth while minimizing water usage.

Cryo

30

Over 50% of adults have experienced chronic or episodic headaches making it the second most common complaint of pain. Current market solutions such as icepacks and pain relief medication leave significant room for improvement in both symptom relief and user comfort. Our goal is to eliminate the undesirable side effects of medication, and the unpleasant experience of ice packs by introducing a cryotherapy-based alternative. Cryo has created a rechargeable device that can be worn to alleviate head pain by cooling key points in the forehead.
