Smart and Safe Powerlifting

21

The Smart and Safe Powerlifting team introduces a weightlifting setup that reduces the risk of injury while performing the main powerlifting compound exercises: bench-press, deadlifts, and squats. The system incorporates a hybrid resistance mechanism to induce load on the barbell through physical weights and an electrical motor assist allowing for the implementation of multiple safety mechanisms.

HipPO

22

Inspired by aquatic therapy, HipPO is a novel hip support system that promotes mobility and relieves pain in those suffering from hip osteoarthritis. The wearable system accomplishes this through adaptive mechanical offloading of body weight, far infrared heat therapy, and compression of the lower limbs. The device is designed to provide a higher quality-of-life to hip OA patients and patients awaiting hip arthroplasty surgeries; for which the backlog has significantly increased in recent times due to COVID-19.

Artificial Pollinator

23

Bees pollinate 80% of all cultivated crops. In recent years, there has been a continuous and significant decline in the bee population due to climate change, pesticide use, and habitat loss. To address these sustainability problems, our group has designed an artificial pollinator that can safely detect and fire pollen particles at flowers using an innovative vortex ring delivery method. This design integrates a machine learning system, developed by a chemical engineering group, to accurately identify flower stigmas in greenhouse conditions.

FLOW

24

Hi! We are FLOW (Fluid LiDAR Optical Wizard). We aim to bring the power of Computational Fluid Dynamics to the average consumer. Did you know the iPhone 12 Pro has a built in LiDAR scanner? We aim to leverage this new access to technology to grant the user the power of fluid simulations with an ultra-low barrier to entry. Our project provides a simple interface for our client to process point data of 3D objects for fluid simulations, and perform the simulations to output valuable information like forces and flow patterns.

Team SnoPed

25

The SnoPed is a recreational device capable of bringing the experience of downhill snowboarding to any snowy environment. With its tank-like track and powerful motor, the SnoPed can traverse a wide variety of snowy terrain while also giving the user full speed control with its handheld remote. Unlike other attempts at such a device, the SnoPed seeks to deliver an experience with as similar a feeling to conventional snowboarding as possible while simultaneously offering the user an unprecedented amount of freedom.
