DS Kit

21

Features such as driver drowsiness detection, lane departure warnings, and blindspot detection do not exist in all vehicles, especially those older or cheaper models. It is unfortunate that many people do not have access to these valuable features that have been proven to dramatically increase driver safety. By creating an after-market Driver Safety Kit that is easy to install and significantly cheaper than buying a new car with such features, we prove that such safety products should be as commonplace as a helmet when biking.

Mattrics

22

Mattrics is a non-invasive mat designed to quantify the unique needs of children with CP. Mattrics records body metrics such as applied pressure and breathing data during sleep, so that occupational therapists can craft custom and effective solutions to meet the sleep needs of children with Cerebral Palsy. The processed sleep data is made available to professionals through a safe and secure online platform.

SoundAssist

23

SoundAssist is a wearable device to assist the hearing impaired. It rests around the wearer's neck and constantly monitors ambient noise to classify important sounds that may occur. It provides immediate haptic feedback to the user to notify them that an important sound has occurred, and sends a notification to their mobile device for more detailed information.

BK9

24

Between 2012 and 2017, the coffee industry suffered an estimated 3 billion dollars worth of damages caused by coffee rust. Coffee rust is a plant disease that spreads rapidly through farms and kills them by reducing their ability to photosynthesize. This project, BK9 (BeanK9), is a quadrupedal robot that aims to traverse coffee farms and use machine learning to detect coffee rust on coffee plants. Our solution to automate surveillance of the disease hopes to reduce the damages caused to coffee farms.

Watchdog

25

Pursuits lead to accidents, and they are a constant public safety challenge. Watchdog provides the ability to automatically aim the tracking device, dispatch, and track the targeted vehicle safely. Our technology reduces the amount of police involvement in high-speed car chases to reduce collateral damage.
