• Technical sketching, or freehand drawing, differs from instrumental drawing primarily in the amount of time and accuracy required

• in appearance the completed technical sketch has a freedom and character that are entirely different from the clean-cut precision of a mechanically ruled drawing

• the result, however, should be a clear and concise illustration suitable for the intended purpose
