TEACHING EXPERIENCE
- Since 1976, taught basic engineering, mathematics, optimization, workshop, conflict analysis, and time series analysis courses. Courses were well received and consistently given high ratings by students.During the past three decades, supervised more than 120 undergraduate workshop projects in which students design, test and implement solutions to challenging problems. Co-author of books and software used in the Conflict Analysis and Time Series Modelling courses. Co-founder and Director of student exchange programs with Tottori and Kyoto Universities, as well as the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. Presented short courses, invited seminars, keynote addresses and conference papers in many foreign countries including USA, China, Japan, Israel, France, Germany, Brazil, India, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.
- Regularly present lectures and slide shows to community groups on topics such as Education and Culture in Japan.
To date, 19 Ph.D. and 40 Master's students have successfully completed their degrees under the supervision or co-supervision of K.W. Hipel. All hold responsible positions in industry, universities or government organizations.
