As consumer interest in the clean beauty movement continues to grow, green marketing claims are becoming increasingly prevalent. However, the data to back up these claims is often missing. Cosmelo is a browser extension tool that injects sustainability data into the online shopping experience for purchasing cosmetics. Our vision is to empower consumers to make more sustainable purchasing decisions based on verified, reliable data and provide a single source of truth.

Research shows that there has been a decline in meaningful human connection within neighbourhoods. Today, only nine per cent of Toronto residents report knowing most of their neighbours. Our Capstone project aims to build community cohesion within neighborhoods by reducing the friction of organizing events with neighbors. Specifically, our team developed an application which helps match available neighbors to play pick-up tennis games together, as well as discover local resources and facilities.

We developed an application to reduce food waste at the household level. Our solution logs perishable items from grocery trips and provides users feedback about their purchasing habits, nudging them to adopt environmentally conscious behaviors. We provide users with actionable metrics about their food consumption, predict future food waste, and provide optimized grocery lists. By educating users about sustainable practices we hope to reduce their carbon footprint.

Online shopping is a convenient way to purchase clothes, but it’s often difficult to imagine how a 2D image of garment will fit on your body. Consumers often end up returning online purchases which is not only frustrating for the consumer, but can be costly for retailers and the environment. Ariadne is a visualization software that mimics the fitting room experience from the comfort of your home. With Ariadne, online shoppers can visualize prospective clothing purchases on their personalized avatar to better assess fit.
