Hi Everyone,
My name is Zeinab Jahed, and I am
the group leader for the Pillars life saving system.
We, Pillars, are a group of four Mechatronics
Engineering students from the University of
Waterloo. For more information regarding the life
saving system, please feel free to browse our
‘Design’ section. We are a diverse group of students
from very different backgrounds, with different
expertise and work experiences. But, it was our
common interest in the project that encouraged us to
work together to create a life saving system as our
final engineering design project.
Now, I would like to give a brief introduction of
the group members and relevant experiences in the
past which have helped us throughout the project
life cycle:

I was chosen as the team
leader for this project due to my expertise in specialized
software design, interest in robotics, and project
management. During my past work terms, I have been
extensively involved in developing customized software’s for
diverse industry sectors such as finance and natural
resources. As a project manager, I have been involved in
managing large scale and high risk projects from conception
till implementation. I have also volunteered in many
robotics research teams, and been involved in design,
construction and testing of commercial robots. All these
experiences have been very beneficial for this project due
to its large scope and required expertise. |
:: Jashneet (Jash) Cheema

 |
Jash has spent most of her
work terms in the Automotive Industry, in varied positions
ranging from engineering to product design and supervision.
During these work terms she has gained experience in
engineering design (both mechanical and electrical), product
testing, problem solving and product documentation. Due to
these experiences, she was involved in the mechanical and
electrical design, final testing and documentation of the
life saving system. |
:: Linda Tao
4B Mechatronics Engineering |
Email: lltao@uwaterloo.ca |
 |
Linda has mostly worked as
a project manager and business consultant in diverse
industries ranging from manufacturing to pharmaceutical and
finance. During these work-terms, she has gained valuable
experience in project management and has been a great help
to me in managing this project and creating presentations
and posters for the project. She has also volunteered for
specialized robotics teams, and has been involved in
mechanical design and fabrication of competitive robots.
Therefore, she was involved in the mechanical design and
fabrication of the life saving system. |
:: Quang-Tue Nguyen
4B Mechatronics Engineering |
Email: q2nguyen@uwaterloo.ca |
 |
Quang-Tue has worked in many industry sectors ranging
from automotive to energy. During most of his work terms, he
was involved in hands-on mechanical product design and
testing. This gave him the expertise not only in design
software’s and construction of the product, but also in
material testing (for physical properties etc.). Due to
these expertise's, he was mainly involved in the mechanical
design and integration of the life saving system. |
