SymSense

26

Given the current COVID-19 Pandemic, prevention and mitigating the spread of the virus are of the utmost importance in today’s world. When people are out and about, they are now required to wear a mask that covers both their mouth and nose, be free of any symptoms; including a fever, and should frequently sanitize their hands. The product that SymSense has created is a device that encompasses all these requirements to check among the public before they enter indoor spaces.

Socially Distanced Personal Trainer

27

The challenge this project aims to solve is the prohibitive costs of quality personal training. With large swaths of the country under some form of lockdown, it is more important than ever for people to maintain their health by exercising. However, many people will be inhibited by a lack of proper instruction. Enter the socially distanced personal trainer.

Mixolotea

28

Mixolotea, in the current world of social distancing and reduced contact, is our solution for contactless preparation of drinks, particularly to serve bubble tea. With a mix of viscous solids, fluids, and powders, bubble tea presents a unique set of challenges to solve in automated food creation. Fully customizable drinks can be created from a simple web app, allowing users to select their tea, toppings, ice level, and sweetness. The machine then prepares the drink as directed and serves it within 5 minutes.

Bee's Knees

29

After knee joint replacement surgery, patients often go through physical therapy to regain full motion in their joint. Due to the current lockdown rules, it’s more important than ever to collect data virtually and monitor recovery. This device aims to address this by collecting joint angle measurements and track recovery in the comfort of your own home. Visualizations for joint recovery, swelling, and inflammation data can also be viewed on a dashboard to help patients and physical therapists monitor recovery.

WAKE : Wake Alert with Kinetic Exercise

30

It is difficult to ensure people wake up on time and do not go back to sleep due to sleep inertia. Exercise or movement may be a way to ensure people stay awake and help to avoid prolonging sleep inertia. WAKE is a system based on energy expenditure, that integrates with users’ mobile devices, to ensure people wake up on time in a novel way everyday, and do not go back to sleep.
