Re:File

Despite its heavy use in transferring files, the ability to manage files is often overlooked by most email clients. Their nesting within emails makes it difficult to find and organize them. We developed a product called Re:File that reveals hidden files in your email, automatically categorizes them, and displays them in an intuitive interface. You can spend less time searching for emails and organizing inboxes, so you can focus on what matters most.

Parkinson’s disease (PD), a nervous system disorder with no cure, affects over 6 million people globally. Approximately 80% of people with PD develop a symptom called Freezing of Gait (FoG). FoG occurs when an individual is unable to move forward despite the intention to walk, leading to falls, injuries, and stigmas, which ultimately reduces quality of life. MomentML leverages wearable technology and ML techniques to predict the onset of a FoG episode and provide cues to assist the user to reinitiate gait.

For our FYDP, we aim to design a computer-assisted language learning (CALL) tool that can be used by heritage and second language learners to improve their tone perception and production by providing constructive feedback and achieve better language fluency. The project is focusing on Mandarin as a starting point since there are more available resources to develop the tool. In future, we’re hoping to expand and branch off to other tonal languages which have a risk of language loss.

While the federal and provincial governments have identified goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector - including by phasing out the sale of gas vehicles - electric vehicles (EVs) still make up a small percentage of vehicles on the road. EVolutiON aims to help policymakers in the Ontario government face our climate crisis by modeling the future of the personal vehicle market and providing policy recommendations to promote EV adoption and minimize emissions.

OptiCal works to optimize user’s calendars to lessen the burden of virtual “zoom” fatigue on remote workers and students. Utilizing industry research into the root causes of virtual fatigue as well as a comprehensive optimization algorithm based on key fatigue factors, the solution finds times in a user’s schedule for meetings to add the lowest possible incremental fatigue. OptiCal additionally showcases its user’s fatigue over time, showing them their busy times and allowing them to monitor the effect of remote work on their mental state.
