There are 285M visually impaired, and 39M blind people across the globe. Currently many fear being in public as it can take 1+ years for learning new surroundings. Our goal with SignSight is to instill confidence for the visually impaired by detecting common signs or objects required in emergency situations through real-time video analysis. SignSight uses our custom trained ML model for detecting emergency exits, restrooms, and fire alarms while relaying the information via mobile app using haptics or voice communication.

Smart Drone Farming Automation System

The purpose of the Smart Drone Farming Automation System is to provide a solution for aging farmers to manage farmland easier. It is difficult to manage a large farm field with aging farmers; this project is an application that can schedule drones based on need and time of day. In the life cycle of farming, drones will occupy the routine maintenance of crops, such as seeding, applying pesticides, water irrigation and monitoring/surveillance.

Ac-Chess-Ible is a hands-free chess set designed for everyone. It is a fully enclosed magnetic gantry system to move pieces like “wizard chess”. The board is voice control using standard chess dictation. It can be played with 1 or 2 players, from beginner to master. There are two game modes available: (1) professional, which provides a buzzing sound for invalid or illegal moves and can replay one’s games or (2) entertainment mode, with custom Star Wars pieces that have sound effects associated with moving and capturing.

"leftonread" is a mobile software solution that aims to encourage the discovery and the consistent reading of classic literature in high school students. With literacy rates decreasing, it remains of utmost importance to motivate adolescents to read, especially those novels which have cultural significance. The app leverages gamification, social media functions and the like in order to induce excitement and interest in these great works.

We are developing an optical sensor, employing spectroscopy and computer vision, which can identify and differentiate between common plastics used in 3D-printing. This will allow 3D-printed waste to be sorted by plastic type and colour, to enhance the quality, reliability, and rate of production of recycled 3D-printing filament from 3D-printed waste.
