Waterloo’s Chemical Engineering Student Society
(UW CESS, aka ChemSoc) is part of the Student
Chapter of the Canadian Society of Chemical
Engineers (CSChE) and the UW Student Chapter
of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers
(AIChE).
UW CESS organizes engaging events to facilitate
interactions between undergraduates, fellow peers
and professors.
New students are welcomed into the society with
Brewery and Oiler tours, and are soon introduced
to interactive proceedings, such as the recent
Coffee House, where students showcased their
musical talents for an audience and enjoyed free
food and drink.
A regular event called ‘Meet the Profs’ continues to
be a tremendous success year after year, where
students get to know their professors on a more
personal level outside the classroom.
Getting involved with the society is still possible,
even as alumni. The community connects Chemi-
cal Engineering students by hosting networking
events and offering mentorship. Alumni are encour-
aged to support the faculty’s rigorous efforts to
remain at the leading edge of this competitive field.
You can become a mentor to help guide the engi-
neers of tomorrow with your experience and knowl-
edge. Such mentors provide invaluable help to our
students.
