Congratulations to PhD student Katharina Hassel, who won first place for

the "Reg Friesen student oral paper award" at the Canadian Society for

Chemical Engineering Conference (Fredericton, New Brunswick, October

          21, 2013).

PhD student Drew Higgins received the 2013 Electrochemical Society

(ECS) Canadian Section Student Award for his research on nanostructured

fuel cell and battery electrode materials, carried out under the supervision

          of Prof. Zhongwei Chen.

Chemical Engineering graduate students Madjid Soltani and Navid Bizmark

were both awarded the University's 2013 Outstanding Achievement in

Graduate Studies honours for their research. Five of these honours were

awarded at the Doctoral level and four at the Master’s level.

Madjid Soltani's PhD thesis involves the study of drug delivery to

solid tumor microvasculature, through numerical modeling. His

          supervisor is Pu Chen.

Navid Bizmark's MASc thesis involves the study of the effects on

surface tension of irreversible adsorption of nanoparticles at a

fluid/fluid interface. His supervisor is Marios Ioannidis.
