HW Consulting : Modular Healthcare Facilities
1
The current COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the lack of adequate healthcare facilities as well as the geographic, physical and economic barriers that leave rural communities vulnerable in times of crisis. HW Consulting aims to provide a design for a cost-effective modular intensive care unit to aid and support vulnerable communities in rural Ontario during the current pandemic and in the event of a future crisis. The design consists of panelized timber components that can be rapidly assembled and disassembled with minimal use of specialized equipment.

SpaceS
2
SpaceS was retained by Axiom Space to design a new modular low Earth orbit (LEO) space station. Objects in LEO experience microgravity conditions, which has significant commercial potential in industries such as specialized manufacturing, space tourism, and scientific research. It is also essential in supporting future deep space exploration, while acting as a testing ground for astronauts and new technology. The development of reusable rockets capable of delivering large payloads to LEO is advancing quickly, opening the door for the commercialization of LEO.

SAAL Healthcare Solutions
3
S.A.A.L Healthcare Solutions has developed a modular healthcare design that can be implemented in rural communities in Northern Ontario. Access to safe and affordable medical facilities is the priority for this region. The facility was tailored to suit the needs of the Township of Ignace, Ontario and has been designed to ease construction and account for the lack of resources, and skilled labour in the remote region. The layout utilizes demountable connections and wall systems to allow for reconfiguration and easy expansion in the future.

The Gorilla Gang
4
Indonesia is one of the most natural disaster-prone countries in the world, and the impacts of this are felt every year with consistent tropical storm events and earthquake occurrences. Therefore, the Gorilla Gang has been retained to design a disaster relief shelter that is tailored for use in Indonesia and will provide temporary relief to the displaced Indonesian population while they recoup after a disaster. The ideal shelter design will balance cost, performance, lifespan, and design practicality, while being able to resist expected environmental loads.

Toronto Premium Outlet Mall is a popular mall in Halton Region, only accessible by car. The lack of transit infrastructure means there are no alternative travel methods for employees/customers. BTTS consulting has set out to design bus routes from Brampton, Milton, Mississauga, and Oakville, and an onsite bus terminal to increase mall accessibility. The designs include origin hubs in each city, with origin-destination bus schedules for each route. Additionally, the terminal will be designed such that it does not significantly impact current traffic operations.
