The Dashing Doggy
1
With dog ownership on the rise, there has been an increase in injuries due to dog-walking with a handheld leash: 78.6% were amongst women, most over the age of 65! The Dashing Doggy’s intricate wearable harness implements biomedical engineering concepts that redirect the force from a pulling dog. By better distributing this force throughout the body, possibility for fatigue related shoulder injuries is greatly reduced. The Dog Owner Injury Prevention Device caters toward older adults by improving their safety and comfort during their walks!

AutoFIP
2
Team AutoFIP, with support from Magna - Polycon Industries, aims to replace a current manufacturing process of manually placing adhesive foam strips onto TPO and PC-ABS plastic parts with an autonomous solution. The goal of the project is to redesign the process using Foam-in-Place technology, a concept new to Polycon Industries, that allows for reductions in cost and waste. The main project considerations are optimization of plastic surface pre-treatment, foam application, foam curing and line size optimization.

DRS (Drag Reversal System)
5
The Drag Reversal System addresses the consumer desire for aftermarket spoiler modifications. The drag reversal system brings forward an active aerodynamic spoiler system that is both competitive and more affordable than the current market products. The drag reversal system has three modes that affect the performance of the vehicle depending on its behaviour. The first mode allows for minimal drag for coasting, the second mode provides increased traction, handling and downforce, while the final mode enhances the vehicle’s braking capabilities.
