3.1.1 |
The participants of the registered team must build the toboggan. Each member of the team must be a student, except in the case of noncompeting and graduate teams. |
3.1.2 |
Those toboggans having already taken part in the competition, in a previous year, are not forbidden to do so again, but will not be eligible for one of the three place finishes. They will thus be registered in the non-competing category. |

Each toboggan (including all accessories required for the race) cannot have a weight of more than 136.4 kg or 300 lbs. |

Each toboggan must be able to accommodate 5 participants. |
3.1.5 |
The running surface of each toboggan must be made of Portland Cement based concrete only. |
3.1.6 |
Only wax is permitted to facilitate a smoother running surface. Utilization of varnish, paint, epoxy, Teflon or similar products is forbidden. |
3.1.7 |
Utilization of reinforcements and admixtures is not only admissible, but encouraged. |
3.1.8 |
Each toboggan must be equipped with a braking system which is to be constructed to allow for stopping in as short a distance as possible. |
3.1.9 |
No toboggan can be designed in a way whereby pieces are lost or come unfastened during the descent or braking process. |
3.1.10 |
Each team should provide a method to attach a cable to the toboggan to facilitate the ascent up the hill. It is highly recommended to install a 50 mm diameter ring to the front of the toboggan (no ring, no tow up the hill). |
