Energy Scavenging Cellphone
32
The objective of this project is to develop a basic cell phone that never needs to be recharged with a wall charger. Combining energy scavenging tactics, such as a hand crank and integrated solar panels, the device can accumulate energy from its environment or user. The advantage of this design over existing solar or crank based phone chargers is that the important features of the phone are designed with power optimization in mind, thereby reducing inefficiencies in the system.

Chulo
33
We want to create a dating application that will help alleviate the pressure and distrust when getting matched with a stranger. Introducing Chulo, a dating app that matches users with their friends, or friends of friends, all through a mutual middleman whom you know and trust. Chulo allows the middleman to initiate the matching process by picking two of their friends whom they believe would connect well, creating a match if accepted by both friends.

Outdoor Insulator Defect Identification System
34
The Outdoor Insulator Defect Identification System is a handheld device that maintenance personnel can use to distinguish between various types of line insulator defects on a distribution line, avoiding manual inspections. It would employ acoustic sensors to detect electrical discharge patterns and abnormalities in insulators and utilizes this data to perform defect classification using machine learning. The goal of this system is to help the High Voltage Power Sector improve their maintenance procedures and provide a cost-effective method of identifying outdoor insulator defects.

Grocery Wayfinder
35
The Grocery Wayfinder provides shoppers with the most efficient route through a grocery store. This allows shoppers to safely and quickly complete their shopping in times of social distancing. By pairing their mobile device to an ultra-wideband indoor positioning system, shoppers are shown a path through the store, guiding them to their desired items. The advantage of ultra-wideband technology is that it provides the highest level of indoor accuracy while being the most cost-effective solution, ensuring users always have the most efficient route.
