Determining the Optimal Deployment Method using Goal Optimization

7

As Covid-19 accelerates the global shift towards E-Commerce, several new businesses have emerged to take advantage of the opportunity. For small businesses, deciding on a deployment method for each order is a tedious manual process affected by several variables. This project addresses the need for a solution that improves operational efficiencies by maximizing profit and minimizing order delivery times. We propose a decision checkpoint, backed by a goal-programing mathematical model based on historical data, that instantaneously determines the fiscally optimal deployment option for each order.

Taking a data-driven approach to diabetes management

8

Our product has the goal of facilitating the patient management of type 2 diabetes within the Canadian healthcare system. By investigating communication barriers and data discrepancy between healthcare professionals and their patients, we designed a system that improves the quality of patient care for type 2 diabetes. The solution is a mobile application, where patients can upload necessary health metrics in a timely manner, along with the ability to export essential patient data in a convenient format to share with healthcare practitioners for optimal treatment.

CloudSafari

The origins of CloudSafari launched after learning about the time-consuming processes that local tour operators undergo in Tanzania to get a trip booked. CloudSafari is an integrative web service that provides tour operators assistance for planning, managing and booking trips with customers. CloudSafari enables a connection between local tour operators with potential customers through a shared marketplace. Customers can view verified safari options and select an experience that is right for them.

OpenRace

OpenRace is an application that was designed to give runners the same great motivating feeling of live competition –all within an app. Furthermore, it enables events where many runners can all compete in a virtual setting. However, the process of integrating event information has been cumbersome and time-consuming. The second part of this capstone project has provided event organizers a way to upload information directly to the app.
