Have you struggled on a group project over the pandemic? What if your project requires you to interact with your surroundings? Coherently, haptics technology emulates the experience of touch using vibrations, forces, and motions to bring us closer to multisensory environments from our homes. It cannot scale up to large, diverse samples of people and is inefficient amidst social distancing efforts. Remote.ly is an interactive web application that helps novice hapticians kickoff their projects and remotely connect with a community of novice and expert hapticians.

SideStart

2

SideStart is a software side project platform where users can upload their projects, provide and receive feedback, and join other people to collaborate on side projects. Many side projects are created to showcase one’s skills and to build experience. However, these projects are often forgotten. This site provides individuals with feedback, mentorship, validation, and connections with people in order to increase the scope of their projects, fostering creativity and meaningfulness in the process.

We present a system to measure employee satisfaction on software engineering teams that is designed to integrate with an existing performance management platform, CodeGem. We developed mood surveys within engineering workflows, and automatic communication analysis, as methods to provide software engineering managers with information on two indicators of employee satisfaction, wellbeing and engagement.
