Discovering Deals in a Digital Age
10
For decades, the flyer has been a cornerstone of North American consumer culture, serving as the main source for deal discovery when buying groceries. Despite technological advancements, a digital solution to the flyer has not seen great progress, with many customers being sent to a sub-optimal experience. We partnered with Loblaw Digital to ideate a solution that improves the usability of their digital flyer experience. One that provides customers with easy readability & navigation, and integrates into their unique shopping routines with a personalized touch.

Non-profit organizations (NPO) rely on inefficient, unscalable, and manual processes for simple administrative tasks. Replacing these outdated processes with software applications can significantly reduce the NPO’s workload and open resources for more impactful tasks. However, NPOs lack the technical expertise, capital, and resources to build software applications. We developed a no-code application using ontology mapping that allows NPOs to create internal tools. These internal tools are tailored to each NPO’s use case and require no technical expertise.

There are many roadblocks restricting complete vaccination coverage of a population, especially in developing countries, but we believe this can be improved. In 2019, the World Health Organization reported that over half a million children die each year in Africa from vaccine-preventable diseases. Our team has leveraged a Markov Decision Process (MDP) to maximize vaccine coverage while minimizing vaccine wastage. The model specifies an optimal policy suggesting which vaccine vial size to open at specific time intervals, and could be applied to the COVID-19 vaccine.
