In response to the housing crises in Sioux Lookout, Greene Development incorporates adaptability, designing for disassembly, and the reduction of carbon emissions through an innovative modular housing design. The project explores the use of high-quality timber products with varying geometric arrangements and connections to promote the reuse and relocation of modules while accounting for the challenges of constructing in remote regions. The team aims to build a better future with revolutionary housing and the adoption of circular infrastructure while meeting the values of the residents.

Erb Street is an arterial road that travels through Uptown Waterloo and is a vital east-west connection for the City. The segment between Westmount Road and Caroline street has been identified by the Region of Waterloo as requiring redesign to accommodate densification and to better serve the needs of vulnerable road users. Rank & Match has developed a design that will include the reduction of traffic lanes while incorporating innovative features such as LED pedestrian crossings, continuous walkways, and grade-separated bike lanes.

With the population rapidly growing in the City of Brampton, and the continuous increase in housing prices, there is a great need for more affordable high-density housing. Concreative Solutions proposes to combat this issue by designing a modular concrete building to create more affordable high-density living options. The project aims to utilize a more modern approach to construction in hopes to reduce housing costs by minimizing construction cost and time, minimizing workers on-site, and maximizing ease of construction.

The Skywalk pedestrian bridge connects Toronto Union Station to the CN Tower hub over the Union Station Rail Corridor. Invigorate Inc. is designing a replacement bridge in the case that the Skywalk is disabled in an emergency. Leveraging FRP reinforcement and composite timber, the team minimizes disruption to mobility during construction, maximizes sustainability, and maximizes durability. This unique problem in a highly constrained area requires a novel solution synthesizing the advantageous qualities of complementary materials.

The community of Bowen Island is known for being a “haven for rest” where people from Metro Vancouver can get away from the cities hustle and bustle and recharge in nature. The municipality of Bowen Island has contracted BRRR to convert and retrofit an existing industrial building into a modern hotel where people can enjoy the islands bountiful nature and recharge. The building will be brought up to modern seismic code and its space converted for use as a hotel.
