Updates on professors, lecturers, and research assistants

Nasser M. Abukhdeir joined the Chemical Engineering
department in May 2011. In March 2013, he gave an invited
talk to the American Physical Society, and initiated two new
industrial research collaborations with Shell Canada and
BlackBerry Ltd. Nasser also worked with Prof. Ricardez-
Sandoval to deploy a new high-performance computing
system, hosted by SHARCNET, to enable their computational
research in the areas of multischale simulation and computa-
tional fluid dynamics.
Throughout 2013, William Anderson developed new and continu-
ing collaborations with industry partners to advance technology in
hospital air emmisions control, clinical water testing, residenctial
air UV disinfection, and agricultural resource recovery. He
continues his role as Director of Admissions for Waterloo
Engineering, managing thousands of undergraduate applications
to the faculty`s programs, and the admission process. William

Marc Aucoin was awarded tenure and promoted to Associate
Professor in 2013. He also took the role of Academic Director
for the WatPD Egnineering program, providing online profes-
sional development courses to undergraduate students during
their work terms.
Marc’s research group is currently working on virus-based
systems, the production of complex biologics, and the
utilization of NMR-based metabolomic analysis for assessing
bioprocesses. He has built strong relationships with Chenomx,
Sanofi Pasteur, Trojan Technologies, and Innovascreen.
